Sugar Boards is based in the Eastern Bay of Plenty. It all started when my old Popsicle/freestyle deck got washed away in a flood. I found some Pine Plywood lying around and cut out a basic pintail shape. It rode and looked terrible, not to mention weighed a ton, but got me well in truly hooked. It was a lot of fun, but I wanted more out of my decks. From then on my building evolved. I started working with Vertical Lamination and other building methods and materials, which proved hugely successful. Testing, making, skating. Now they are to a standard, which we are proud to pass on to customers.

All our decks are constructed from Recycled Native and Exotic timber. Some of these include Rimu, Mahogany, Ash, Teak, Oak and many more. All are of high quality and ensure a great final product. Materials and products used in construction are proudly NZ made. Sandpaper, adhesives, resins, router bits….you name it, all made here in NZ.
